Contour shuttle zone1/8/2024 ![]() Built as a mix of machine flow trail and technical rock slabs this trail is intended to make every advanced mountain biker grin. With twice the length of the previous two trails, it is for the more discerning mountain biker. For most of the ridership in the area this is now the climb trail leading you out of Ellison Provincial Park, back up to Predator Ridge Resort.Īfter Vernon saw the Senior 55 Games visit the area in 2017 and the rave reviews Predator has received, we came back to build their signature trail in 2018. Our second build, the Ridge Trail, parallels the Ellison Connector with a gentler grade and a smoother finish making it a great trail for the beginner in the group. With the success of that first trail at the resort, along with Contour Trails guidance, they felt there needed to be an easier option. They welcome outside ridership to visit the Ellison Connector and the rest of their trail network. It was intended as an out and back trail from Predator Ridge Resort. With the addition of Predator’s first intermediate trail, this network has seen a tremendous increase in ridership. This trail network is maintained by the local Mountain Bike Club and was once the favorite for early season riding. We started with a hand build 2.2 km trail that linked the resort down almost 150 meters to the Ellison Provincial Park. With the North Okanagan having so many great trails, including the Ellison network at Predators back door, it is has been fantastic working with this organization over the years. This includes a dedicated shuttle van to get riders back and forth to the new Rail Trail, and invite Contour Trails back continually year after year, to add to their stacked network of trails for all level of rider. They see the growth of cycling and are embracing all things bike. This is because of their commitment to diversity. Predator Ridge is fast becoming a mountain bike destination. It was one of the more grueling trails our team has built, but every one of us enjoy our time in the Monashee’s and look forward to going back to see how the Rangers managed on completing the trail. Large sections of the trail are in old growth forest where the duff layer is deep in spots. Unfortunately government budgets did not allow us to complete the full re-route, we finished about 80% of the trail in the time permitted. We had to camp on site and haul all our gear out (fortunately we moved most our tools in on a helicopter the week before). Still challenging, as most trails in this park are, the new Ranger Route was built in just over a week with a guest appearance from a couple of the crew that work with us on the Silver Star Trail Crew. The changes doubled the length of trail while making the grade much more sustainable and enjoyable to hike. Within one of the most scenic parks in BC, this re-route replaced a very steep trail which lead from Spectrum Lake up to the main trail into Peters Lake. When BC Parks approached us to re-route a section of trail in Monashee Provincial Park we jumped at the opportunity. But with our history in the resort world, we have had the privilege of building many hiking only trails throughout the area. Ranger Route Trail- Monashee Provincial ParkĬontour Trail is known for our skills building amazing mountain bike trails.
